What To Read……

As many of you know, I’m an avid reader, a fast reader, and with the exception of some science fiction and fantasy, enjoy most of the genres. It’s not unusual for me to read 2-3 books a week. During these tumultuous times, however, I’ve been having a really hard time finding something that keeps my attention. Anything political? Nope. Got war in the story? Not interested. Nasty people? No thank you. Unkindness of any sort? Can’t deal with it. Over the last few months, I have started and stopped so many books – not that they didn’t look to have potential, I just couldn’t manage the tenseness of the subject matter.

Enter Sipsworth. A relatively short book about an elderly woman who is ready to die but finds herself making best friends with a mouse. I know, I know. Sounds so silly. But it’s written very well, it’s not complicated, and it’s sweet. I’m going to put it in my five star category simply because it was enjoyable when not much else has been.

  1. I’m a cozy mystery fan so mine are all in that genre.
Ellery Adams – The Secret, Book, and Scone Society (series)
Miranda James – Cat in the Stacks mystery series, and also his Southern Ladies Mysteries.
Fiona Grace – A Villa in Sicily series.

    1. Beartown was maybe my least favorite, but it was still pretty wonderful. Perhaps a less appealing story, but still he makes it really good. Well worth reading. And way better than reading the news.

  2. If you haven’t already, try Fredrik Backman. A Man Called Ove was his most popular book, but they are all good. Anxious People and My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She’s Sorry are delightful. Th Deal Of A Lifetime is a shorter one, also great.
