Out of the Blue – and Yes, He’s a Blue….

Just remembering this guy for whatever reason. He was such a fun cat. Remember Kirby, VA4986?

‘What canary! I didn’t see no yummy canary!!!

If you’re looking for a cabinet buddy, that would be me. Yes, I have a cabinet hang up and when I get nervous, I sit in the cabinet and contemplate the world. I’m getting braver all the time, though, so most mornings I wake up, go over to the cabinet and make sure it’s still there, open the door to make sure my space is still available, and then go about my business. I guess you’d call it a security cabinet. So if you have an extra cabinet that needs a warm body from time to time, ask about me.’ Adopted by Dawn, in Baltimore.

Kirby 5/5/02 – 11/1/18

  1. Hi Siri,

Which cats qualify as 5 star? I have a foster failure who is now 11. I had another one who was a hospice adoption over 10 years ago.

  2. Sophie Rose (nee Natalia-VA6270) just turned 16! She brings me joy every day, even when we have to endure abscessed anal gland treatments, as we recently have. She is a typical “Tortie Point,” Queen of all she surveys. Her “needs” must be met by us, her willing servants. Although we adopted her with her brother Jazz-purr (nee Nathan-VA6271) they were never really bonded. We lost our little Knucklehead 3 years ago to kidney failure. Sophie loves being an only cat! We are eternally grateful to SCRC for giving us our “babies.”

  3. I adopted Krypto–who became Kippie–from foster mom, Joy, in 2014. She was a darling bluepoint Snowshoe Siamese. After 7 years , I lost her to an aggressive mammary tumor which came back after surgery. She was 14 and missed so much.
Three months later, I adopted online from M.E.O.W., a pair of brothers who had originally hailed from SCRC, but whose owner had died. They were in the Poconos and were alone for about 10 days. Mocha and Latte, about 10 years old. Balinese cats, super sweet. Nearly 4 years later, they are my furbabies still and are loved so much. Their foster mom, Michele, with whom they lived after their owher died , brought them to me from Philadelphia. I had no trouble adopting quickly since my Kippie had also come from SCRC, Thank you for all the work you did for so many kitties.

  4. Our last Siamese were got from y’all was a flame point (he was a transport from Indiana named Flanagan, but we gave him a first name of Danny Boy), and took a while to acclimate, but is interesting in that he LOVE women & girls! He was to be my cat (the one I got prior to him from you Simon-Winston (which we re-named Yo-Yo) left for the rainbow bridge at the approximate age of 25. But Danny Boy bonded to my wife more. He is now a real attention seeker who, if you are home, is expected to feed, pet, and pet some more on demand. Every morning, at soon as the sun peeks over the horizon, he comes into the bedroom to my side of the bed, gives one soft “mew” and walks out to let me know it breakfast time. He’ll wait patiently for several hours in the hall by the kitchen for me to get up and feed him. He will be so lovey rubbing against my ankles as I head to get a clean bowl, I have stand until he is finished saying “thank you!” to walk to the counter drawer for a spoon.

VA Siamese Rescue found us two wonderful meezers. We cannot thank you enough for the joy they’ve brought.

  5. Thank you for the post regarding a special cat. As I read it I am surrounded by three Siamese from your rescue. My first Siamese Rescue cat is 19 year old Hanashi who rules the house. Thank you for giving so many cats a better life.

  6. Siri, Although we have never met, I still think of you and your rescue and am so grateful for the update you sent me on one of your rescues. He was named Walter and somehow I fell in love with him
on the computer. Every morning I woke up I would check your camera to see Walter by the stairs. One day he wasn’t there and he was not listed in the approved adoptions. I sent you a note and to my surprise you replied that Walter had a stroke (two actually). It was so important to me to know what happened to him. He was an old guy and it meant a lot to me to know he spent his last few days in a supportive environment.
I had hoped to eventually adopt from you but I had a difficult cat named Nicole who lived well beyond your closing date; I lost Nicole in 2023 when she was 18 years old. Now I am too infirm to take good care of another creature. But I’ll never forget Walter and your kindness. Thank you!

    1. Thank you for writing! I do remember Walter. He was slated to go to a home when that happened. Lovely cat, we all adored him.
