Who Are Your Top Five?

Curious as to whom everyone follows for their news and information? Is it a channel, a person, a paper – is it on Facebook, Instagram, the television, and if so, who is it?

I’m not a TV person, so I tend to find my news via certain people I follow on social media:

Heather Cox Richardson – one of my long term faves. An American historian and professor of history, she posts a daily “Letters From An American” which I find to be an excellent, up to the second recap of what’s happening, as well as how it relates to the past and how we should look at the future.

Rachel Maddow – I just love her. I’d love to have her to dinner sometime. Her mannerisms and expressions are just what I need to digest all the awfuls of the world.

Pete Buttigieg – I love his intelligent, down to earth, thoughts and explanations.

Kris & Dave – for an occational laugh interspersed with the serious material, these two digital creators describe themselves as “a couple of southern, middle-ish aged liberal veterans.” A variety of wonderful content and contacts.

sharonsaysso on Instagram – known as “America’s Government Teacher”, she posts some great info.

And finally, did anyone else follow Taryn Smith as she rowed across the Atlantic? What an adventure by one awesome person!

Love to hear any suggestions for some other great follows!

  1. 1. Dr Richardson: I ALWAYS read her Letters, even when I don’t feel I can face the news. Not only is she everything you said, she provides footnotes for a deeper dive.
    2. The Washington Post, though I never read the opinions thanks to Bezos’ changes.
    3. Joyce Vance from Civil Discourse, for a legal perspective
    4. Stephen Colbert — because sometimes I need someone to yell for me and make me laugh at the same time.
    5. Kris.and.Dave on Facebook
And now I’m off to figure out how I can regularly “get” Rachel Maddow.

  2. 1. N Y Post
    2. The Free Press
    3. 1440 Digest
    4. Tangled
    5 NY Times

Sort of followed her rowing. I’ve long known I didn’t want to sail solo across the ocean; now I know I want to row across even less. That said, congrats to her and her endurance. Glad she made it safely.

    1. NY Post? I had always heard they weren’t that legit, but that was just a rumor I picked up maybe? Don’t know Tangled. Will check that out.

      1. Tangled is good, tries very hard to be non-biased, fairly in depth analysis of one thing each day.

NY Post, oldest paper in America, right of center, sometimes sensationalist but best headlines ever. Has broken some pretty big stories that others try to ignore. Some will say it’s not legit, but they are wrong. Worth it just for the headlines.
